England Watch - Men | July 4

After a busy weekend of action from Round 17 of the Betfred Super League, we take look at how your England stars fared across Super League this weekend.

The Betfred Super League got underway on Friday evening with Castleford Tigers hosting the Huddersfield Giants. Paul McShane started on the bench for Lee Radford’s side in their 26-18 victory over Huddersfield Giants.

Mikolaj Oledzki opened the scoring for Leeds Rhinos as he crashed over to score against Hull FC. Oledzki made 136 metres from 15 carries which helped him side to a dominant 62-12 win away at Hull’s KCOM Stadium.

Jack Welsby played an integral part in St Helens trip to face Catalans Dragons. Welsby scored one try and produced two try assists during their 20-18 defeat. Fellow Saint, Tommy Makinson, was also on the scoresheet.

Alex Walmsley made 113 metres from 14 carriers on Saturday evening. Matty Lees and Joe Batchelor both started for St Helens.

Meanwhile for the Dragons, Michael McIlorum started at hooker and played a key role in the Catalans success. Full-back, Sam Tomkins, converted four goals during the 20-18 victory for the hosts.

On Sunday, Jake Wardle made his Warrington debut as they hosted Salford Red Devils at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Wardle created a try assist during the second half and made 101 metres from only nine carries. Warrington teammate, Stefan Ratchford, scored his first try of the season on Sunday during their 32-24 defeat to Salford. Mike Cooper also featured for Daryl Powell’s side. 

Kallum Watkins started in the second row for Paul Rowley’s Salford during their away victory. Watkins produced an assist to start Salford’s fightback, as the Red Devils went on to score 24 unanswered points.

The final game of the weekend saw Wigan Warriors travel to Wakefield to face Willie Pouching’s side. Liam Farrell continued his good try scoring form as he scored his 11th Super League try of the season. John Bateman also featured for Matt Peet’s side during their 46-22 away success at the Be Well Stadium.
